In the spirit of Ramadhan, Education Malaysia Washington DC and the Consulate General of Malaysia, New York have co-hosted an iftar with Malaysian students at the Grand Hall of The Consulate on March 7th, 2025 (Friday).
The iftar, which was open to all Malaysian students (muslim and non-muslim), was joined by Mr. Amir Farid Abu Hassan (Consul General), staff of The Consulate, Rep. of the Embassy of Malaysia Washington DC, and Malaysian students from Colombia University, Cornell Tech, and New York University.
During the iftar, participants recited the Quran, listened to the ‘tazkirah’, and performed the tarawih. The Consulate (Mr. Amir Farid Abu Hassan – Consul General), Education Malaysia Washington DC (Mr Muhamad Syahrul Nizam Ismail – Education Attaché), and Rep. of the Embassy (DSP Mohd Yani Abd. Rahman – Assistant Police Attaché) also had a short briefing session addressing any issue that the students might be facing while studying here in the U.S.
We would like to express our gratitude to The Consulate General of Malaysia in New York and Malaysian students for their hospitality. It was a pleasure to be able to celebrate iftar with the Malaysian community there.
