EMWDC would like to congratulate Nur Amirah Binti Amirudin, graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Minors in Economics and Arabic, who was selected as the Student Marshal during the Summer Commencement Ceremony on August 15, 2015 to represent the SMEAL College of Business during the academic procession.
This award was given to students with an outstanding performance in schools and services to the community such as numerous involvements in student organizations and volunteering activities.
As a student marshal, she was also be given a personal recognition on stage from the university for her services throughout her years there. In the personal recognition, the university mentioned about her dedication to provide time and energy on causes and projects that she believed in and one of it was the National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, to name a few. It is an event that takes place every year, on a week before the Thanksgiving Break with an aim to promote national endeavor to end global hunger and homelessness issues.
As the event coordinators, she and her colleague worked 4 months in advanced to do a lot of research, collaboration with other student organizations’ leaders and faculty members, as well as volunteers’ work plan construction to create a poverty simulation attended by almost 300 students.
