Perdana Scholar Award

Education Malaysia USA and the Embassy of Malaysia, in collaboration with JPA, MARA, TalentCorp and YaPEIM, proudly presents the 2014 Perdana Scholar Award. The Perdana Scholar Award, the first of its kind, is an event in which we give recognition to our students who have excelled in their studies during their stay in the United States of America. This event will be held in New York and attended by honorary guest(s), YAB Perdana Menteri Malaysia/YB Menteri Pendidikan. We would like to encourage all Malaysian students who are currently pursuing their undergraduate and post-graduate studies in the USA to participate in this event.

What is the Perdana Scholar Award?
The Perdana Scholar Award is an event which aims to identify, document, promote and award Malaysian students who have excelled in areas such as academic, leadership, sports, entrepreneurship, inventions and research. We understand that sometimes students don’t get the recognition they deserve from all the hard work they have put in their studies, so this is an opportunity for us to recognize and acknowledge all of your hard work both inside and outside of academics.
These are the 12 categories which will be awarded. Please read the criterias carefully for the required supporting documents.

How does it work?
There are 12 categories (pictured above). Students can nominate themselves or other students they deem qualified to receive the award. Some awards will have multiple recipients. Once the nominations are in, a group of judges consisting of the Director of Education Malaysia WDC & Chicago, education attachés and 3 representatives from government agencies from the Embassy of Malaysia, will evaluate the nominees and reach an agreement on the award recipients. The awards will then be distributed in September 2014 (date tba), which will be attended by honorary guest(s) YAB Perdana Menteri Malaysia/YB Menteri Pendidikan.
